My Process
I designed this poster for an international poster competition. The theme this year was the color black and rethinking how it's used in design. The organization that hosted this competition seemed to be space and sci fi themed, so I tailored my design towards that. By creating a 3D simulation of this really interesting looking liquid chrome, I captured the reflection of the color black, seeking to uncover a new perspective on its characteristics in design.
My poster attempts to capture the reflection of black while transforming it into a seemingly endless form full of contrast and movement. The abstraction of the chrome reflects the infinite scale and detail of this black, seemingly empty space, reimagining its form from an empty void to a flourishing environment. Each of the chrome blobs of the abstract form pick up details from around the scene, obscuring darkness to contrast and creating light from infinite reflections. The forms themselves reflect off of each other, creating a complex web of interconnectivity within form.
